Mr. Rutenbar joined IES Engineers after a career spanning more than 25 years in the petroleum and chemical industry. At IES, he has overall responsibility for managing all engineering and construction projects to ensure that all the necessary and appropriate personnel are made available to perform the required tasks, and to ensure all aspects of IES’ work is complete and of high quality. During his career, Mr. Rutenbar has held positions including Maintenance Engineer, Construction Superintendent, Engineering and Reliability Manager, Project Engineering and Construction Manager, Maintenance Manager, and Operations Manager, in which he gained extensive experience in plant reliability issues, equipment installation, design and operation.
At IES, he has been involved with numerous environmental abatement projects, including the assessment, specification, design, and installation of thermal oxidizer and scrubber systems for control of VOC and HAP emissions, wastewater treatment assessments, including pretreatment systems for control of pH, biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), EPA-regulated effluent solvents and metals, and other contaminants to comply with water quality discharge requirements. In addition, he has managed a number of key engineering and construction projects, including the design/build of a new stabilizer manufacturing facility for Hammond Lead Products in Hammond, Indiana; a bulk material storage and delivery system for a large volume specialty food manufacturing facility in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania; several asbestos abatement projects for clients in New Jersey and Pennsylvania; the design of a solvent storage tank farm and truck unloading station in Jonesboro, Arkansas; and the closure and aboveground replacement of a cogeneration fuel tank in Chester Pennsylvania. During his career, he had responsibility for managing major plant turnarounds and capital upgrades costing in excess of $25 million dollars.
In addition to engineering and construction projects, Jim has provided a number of IES’ clients with risk and best available technology assessments, failure analysis, and facility management consulting services.
