Mr. Schmitt has more than 30 years of experience in structural design, layout, and computerized drafting of air, water, and wastewater treatment facilities; ash handling systems, including fly and bottom ash storage, conveyance, and disposal; bulk materials handling systems for powdered lead, steel, flour, and sugar; plant expansions; and office buildings for industrial clients. His duties include detailing of concrete foundations, tanks, and building structures; detailing of structural steel roofs, floors, and pipe racks; material quantity takeoffs; drawing reviews for completeness and accuracy; and shop drawing reviews. All designs and layouts conform to OSHA regulations for appurtenances such as ladders, walkways, platforms, cages, access openings, stair towers, and handrails. He is also responsible for the supervision (including the delegation of work) to other draftsmen and for coordinating with other disciplines to ensure that equipment and piping is properly integrated with the structural systems. Mr. Schmitt is proficient with AutoCAD Release 2002. At IES, Mr. Schmitt has worked on projects for GlaxoSmithKline, Merck & Co., Hammond Group, Inc., Hammond Lead Products, PQ Corporation, Adhesives Research, Dynasil Corp., Clay-Park Labs, Colorcon, Rohm & Haas, Lonza, and Johnson Matthey.

EDUCATION Temple Technical Institute, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Attended two years and majored in architectural design and building construction technology. North Penn High School, Lansdale, Pennsylvania Graduated with an emphasis on engineering design graphics.
